A children’s choir promoting social diversity

The Lyon Opera enjoys an international reputation for its opera and dance productions. It also develops projects that bring cultural and artistic experiences to a diverse public, especially children.

Artistic excellence and accessibility are the core values of the Lyon Opera, which also runs a choir school, La Maîtrise, for young singers, from 2nd to 12th grade, who receive a general, musical and artistic education. Since 2006, the Opera has been working to recruit youngsters from all social backgrounds, so that each child gets the chance to develop their own creativity, discover their potential and enrich their general knowledge. The Air France Foundation wanted to support this initiative, so that the Lyon Opera could develop its programs in the Lyon region aimed at engaging children from all backgrounds, ensuring that they fit into the group and can enjoy the same conditions for achieving success as the other pupils.
