Le grand bassin

Paris Ten years, the age of exploration and discovery, the age for Robinson les Bains to embark on a joint venture with artist Sean Slaney, paying colorful tribute to the destinations associated with the men’s swimwear brand on bathing suits, shorts, accessories and ready-to-wear: Ibiza, Lake Como, Biarritz and the Ardèche.

Perles rares

Sète/Montpellier To Jean-Michel Othoniel, beauty is a condition of existence, giving him a deeper understanding of ugliness. Enchanting the world once again with his glass orbs, Othoniel has created a Grande Vague of 10,000 translucent black bricks in Sète, and a Bottle of Tears (photo) in Montpellier.

Un air de Méditerranée

Paris White sheets hanging on a clothesline, dancing in the breeze. In the Mediterranean light, the sun fills the atmosphere with flecks of gold. Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance took this image of linen billowing on southern balconies, redesigning and refining it to create a line of brushed brass light fixtures. An elegy to lightness in being.

Vagues à l’âme

Saint-Jean-de-Luz When nami (“waves” in Japanese) leave their island and wash up on the shores of the Basque country, they bring the green taste of Ippodo teas, the minimalism of a micro-restaurant on tatamis, the softness of wood, a few ceramics and comfy clothes. And fuse them with cakes, pottery and other local creations.

Délire boréal

Paris As outlandishly original as compatriot Lars von Trier, Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov unsettles the art world with the oversized forms, exaggerated cuts and bold colors of his collections. Part organic sculpture, part stage costume, part drum performance. Total madness.

Point d’ancrage

Paris The founders of Hircus raised anchor and cast off for adventure in Inner Mongolia, scouting out the expertise needed for their cashmere. Hircus? Think Capra hircus. They use only the longest of the goat’s fine hair for their creations. The name says it all.

Design à la plage

La Grande-Motte It’s vacation time! This is what these five seaside objects, revisited by the studio 5.5 firebrands, seem to be saying. A parasol-turned-triangle, bath towels like beach views, mini-pyramids-cum-sandcastlesa tribute to La Grande-Motte, symbol of 1960’s-style R&R.

D’un coup de pinceau !

Saint-Paul-de-Vence “It was as if I had written a dozen novels”: Arroyo’s piquant paintings can be read like detective novels, blending reality and fiction, fighting History with Narrative Figuration in the form of a shadow army. A duel for life, as highbrow as the Prado and as hard-hitting as an advertising spot.

Raconter des histoires

Paris Pierre Frey drew inspiration from an ink drawing by Hélène Mongin and the textile art of the Miao, inhabitants of Guizhou, near Yunnan, for a 19th-century-style panoramic wallpaper. Define the vanishing point, then escape into the land of tea, “south of the clouds”the literal translation of Yunnan.

Transport gourmand

La-Garenne-Colombes This treasure chest for nomadic tastebuds is an all-terrain sampler dreamed up by chef Nicolas Bernardé, the star of travel cakes. Inside the metal box, this “pocket-sized cake” fears neither the bottom of the bag nor jet lag. Only the onslaught of the spoon.
