Pitching in for ASF

In spring 2017, the maintenance division of Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance challenged its staff worldwide to become socially engaged and pitch in to help Aviation Sans Frontières. Supported by GE Aviation, the initiative aimed to finance humanitarian actions through participants traveling as many kilometers as possible, either alone or in a team, on foot or by bicycle. Distances covered during a period of a month and a half by more than 2,000 people were converted into points on the initiative’s website. The overall success of this powerful collective action enabled the following: flying 40 sick children from disadvantaged countries to European hospitals via Flying Blue Miles; transporting 5 tons of milk to Haiti; and covering the costs for an entire year of the missions flown by the two ASF aircraft in Africa.
