Reading
for the future

Since 1992, the NGO Sipar has been developing initiatives that help young children to develop reading skills, promoting learning and a love for books.

The Air France Foundation has been partnering with Sipar for over ten years. It has supported the creation of reading areas for children in hospitals and in community preschools, where young Cambodian college graduates volunteer for educational initiatives: games, drawings and loans of books in Khmer. It has also financed a mobile library sporting Air France colors, one of eight vehicles that drive through the remote countryside making books accessible to all. Sipar has also opened libraries for textile workers, very young uneducated women who have come to work in factories in Phnom Penh’s suburbs. Pursuing its Semeur de Livres mission in Cambodia, this NGO has helped thousands of children and adults develop a taste for books and move forward on the path of knowledge.
