Small producers: a vector for peace
In Colombia, the year 2016 was marked by peace treaties between the government and the FARC. Thanks to the support of Air France, Acting for Life and its local partner Fundación Colombia Nuestra are working within this new peaceful context to accompany 324 families producing quinoa, coffee and panela (unrefined cane sugar) in Cauca, one of the regions most affected by the armed conflict. The project brings together an alliance of small agricultural producers working toward their development as a group, through collective planning and marketing. It encourages them to enter markets offering high growth potential, which will ensure them better visibility vis-à-vis the authorities and economic actors, while boosting regional prosperity. At the same time, this aid helps plan agriculture’s transition to organic production, which respects the environment.
