Spotlight on Osaka and Glasgow The Travel by Air France online guide now features two more destinations: Osaka and Glasgow. Osaka (top left), on the Pacific coast, is Japan’s third-largest city. Built on the site of an ancient imperial capital and nicknamed tenka no daidokoro (the nation’s kitchen), it boasts a dynamic economy. The city has pioneering environmental policies and also strives to preserve its kabuki and bunraku theaters. Located on the River Clyde, Glasgow ( “dear green place” in Gaelic) is the UK’s third-largest city (bottom left). Birthplace of the bands Simple Minds and AC/DC, the city is rich in cultural and economic assets, with its fine art collections, Victorian architecture, cathedrals, 90 parks and new waterfront developments. An ideal short break destination.
