Baryshnikov, Wilson & Nijinski
The ballet greats This is the third collaboration between Mikhail Baryshnikov and Robert Wilson. Letter to a Man is based on The Diary of Vaslav Nijinsky, the famous dancer with the Ballets Russes in the early 20th century. Over a period of six months, he wrote down his thoughts about art, religion and his relationships with his family and friends. It is the feverish text of a man who is losing his mind and memory. The man referred to in the title of this work interpreted by Baryshnikov is the choreographer Diaghilev, Nijinsky’s lover before the dancer left him to marry Romola de Pulszky. Their separation probably contributed to his illness. After Daniil Kharms’ The Old Woman in 2013, Baryshnikov is once more directed by Wilson. Air France is a partner of the event.
